Akshara consciously strives to raise standards of teaching and learning to an international level.
Moving forward with the above goal in mind it was no surprise when Akshara won the “International School Award” a prestigious honour granted by The British Council to schools who go the extra mile.
From the start of the programme our students engaged enthusiastically in various activities.
The diversity of the activities helped in broadening the horizons of our students and teachers.
Students took part in various projects with partner schools abroad and exchanged information on different topics.
The house system inculcates good work ethics in children, which involves the attitude, behaviour, communication skills, and interactions of an individual with others.
To facilitate the blossoming of a variety of talents, the school offers a house system. The four houses are Anthuriums, Bluebells, Daffodils, and Tulips.
Inter-house competitions are conducted regularly to keep children exposed to current topics, thus promoting leadership opportunities, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication and Compassion.
We at Akshara are committed to providing opportunities for our learners to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills through a wide variety of school Clubs and organizations.
Students are encouraged to be active classroom participants as well as active in at least one of the following Clubs: Art Club, Cookery Club, Photography Club, Nature Club, Quiz Club, Reading Club, MUN Club, TED-Ed Club and Math Club.
A space designed for children in grades VI through XII to explore their intellectual skills through innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving, tinkering, and collaboration.
The objective of this lab is to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing, etc.
Akshara is associated with TED’s youth and education initiative, the TED-Ed Club, which aims to spark and celebrate the ideas of students on a global level. The TED-Ed Clubs program supports students in discovering, researching, exploring, and presenting their big ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks.
As part of the TED-Ed curriculum, global collaborative sessions are held with various countries, thus facilitating worldwide exposure for our students.
To enable the learners to emerge as professionals with strong domain knowledge and technical skills, a STEAM education system is facilitated in the school.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) play an important role in assisting students in achieving academic, social, and personal success.
A robust STEAM education promotes students as critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and next-generation innovators.
STEAM is important as our world depends on it. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) is taught in Akshara with various activities from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Younger students are naturally curious about the world and love to learn through play. The STEAM activities are designed according to their grade.
These activities help Aksharites to develop their creativity, critical thinking, and engineering design process and problem solving skills.
Robotics takes education technology to a new level. Akshara has introduced Robotics to prepare Aksharites for the future. Robotics requires all the subjects of STEAM, so it’s a well -rounded approach to educational technology and learning.
Incorporating STEAM and robotics is an effective way to engage Aksharites and prepare them for the future.
Akshara offers a comprehensive Integrated programme from Grade VI to XII that prepares students for the rigours of competitive entrance examinations for medical colleges and engineering institutes. The course curriculum encompasses all key concepts and topics, providing students with a solid foundation upon which to build their knowledge and skills.
Our integrated NEET and JEE program from Grade 6 to Grade 12 is designed to offer a complete understanding of the syllabus and examination pattern, with an emphasis on mastering concepts and skills essential for success in competitive entrance exams. The program includes a robust schedule of classroom instruction, interactive sessions, and mock tests, aimed at familiarizing students with the examination format and improving their scores.
This helps Aksharites who aspire to enroll in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) & Medical colleges. Also, these programs focus on intensive training, advanced problem-solving techniques, and personalized coaching to assist students in achieving their goals.
Akshara has a very comprehensive Model UN Program in collaboration with IIMUN, where students act as diplomats and discuss various international affairs and try to come up with solutions to them.
Participation in MUN builds public speaking and oratory skills, communication skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills, entrepreneurial skills such as lateral thinking, teamwork, and self-promotion, general awareness about local, national, and current affairs issues, diplomatic skills such as lobbying and argumentation, and the attitudes necessary in this connected world. Our students are guided by experts to achieve their full potential in the academically stimulating United Nations Committee.
Our Aksharites are taken out of the normal classroom to various places as part of a field trip where children can try and explore new things, have different experiences, and learn valuable life lessons.
National and International trips in the curriculum where they can see new sights and participate in a variety of activities.
The qualities of discipline and patriotism are inculcated in the Aksharites through the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Students are trained in drill, shooting, physical fitness, first aid, map reading, sailing, and camp training.
NCC not only benefits the students by improving their overall personalities but also puts them on the priority list when being selected for a job in the future.
In Akshara, scouts and guides programs help students develop life skills as teamwork, communication, problem solving and decision making.
The Fine Arts Department fosters creativity and an innovative spirit to prepare students for their futures, as the arts act as a pathway to explore and celebrate students’ diverse perspectives.
The arts are woven into the school’s curriculum as per the NEP and also as extra-curricular activities.
Students learn and hone their skills in a wide variety of areas, including drama, dance, music, and the visual arts.
Every year, the Fine Arts Department presents multidisciplinary performances. Students take active roles in planning, choreography, set design, and all other aspects of each performance.
